IT technicians around the country are frantically running amok in offices and computer labs for a common cause. The Y2K hoopla has risen from the dead, according to this eweek.com article about the upcoming change in daylight savings time.
I must be completely ignorant of the world around me, because I had no idea that the daylight savings time will be extended by 4 weeks starting this year. This means that you’ll change your clock earlier in the spring and then later in the autumn. This change is part of President Bush’s 2005 energy bill to chomp down on the nation’s energy usage.
The magnitude of the computer problem for this issue is like a dust speck compared to what was expected for Y2K. There will be no computers crashing or financial institutions crumbling down from electronic blackouts. That’s for sure. All you need to do is apply appropriate patches as need be.
What will be the consequences if you’re a meathead and absolutely refuse to go out of your way to prepare? Your clock will be off by an hour. Oh no!
