Ranking Pure Spa on Google Search

Here is one of the websites that I’m working on: www.purespausa.com. It’s a business website for my mother-in-law’s nail salon in Hackettstown, New Jersey. I recently remodeled it into a blog because it was too damn boring as an informative collection of static pages.

I’ve been trying to get it to rank in Google for the search term “Pure Spa.” But to no avail, Google refuses to allow it on even the first 10 pages of results for some bizarre reason.

Actually, the cause seems obvious: Hyatt Hotels run a chain of Pure Spas at the international level. Every single Hyatt Pure Spa location has its own subdomain: Scottsdale, Arizona; Goa, India; Lake Tahoe, California; and Lost Pines, Texas are just several of the top ranking results. Hundreds of Hyatt Pure Spas are flooding my target key term. Just take a look.

To further my frustration, I ran the Internet Business Promoter to compare and contrast the search engine optimization of the first 10 Google results for “Pure Spa” with my own site. IBP analyzes body text, title text, link text and more to check if the SEO of your page matches up with the minimum standards of Google’s top ranking sites.

So the discrepancy must be the back links. www.purespausa.com has the same page rank as the 1st result: PR3. But the top ranking sites have older, more reputable domains with more relevant inbound links.

At one point I had PR0 for 6 months, and it turned out that a description of a massage and microdermabrasion services had hundreds of duplicate copies across the web. All I did was get rid of the text and www.purespausa.com immediately jumped to PR3.

Amateur SEO can provide for some much needed excitement in your life.
