First Day At Pepperjam Search Internship

What an awesome feeling, strolling to Pepperjam on a beautiful, sunny Monday morning in Wilkes-Barre. To start work at my first desk job, doing what I love most: messing around with the internet.

Fresh company. New building. Young people. Beautiful women. What more can I ask for? And I can’t forget to mention the free energy drinks.

Instead of diving head first into the search engine optimization work that I signed up for, Pepperjam requires all employees (including interns) to become Google Adwords Certified Professionals. So I spent most of the working day plowing through page after page of the Google Adwords Learning Center, preparing for the certification exam. Take a short quiz. Click. Read. Another quiz. Repeat…

I plan on finishing my training and taking the exam on Wednesday. Then maybe Pepperjam will let me get my hands dirty with the real work. But I have a feeling my eagerness is unnecessary, because the heavy workload in the Search department will soon sweep me away into the void.

At first impression, Pepperjam seems like an awesome company to work for. The corporate culture is so laid back, and it makes me wonder if they modeled it after Google. There’s absolutely none of the bureaucratic bullshit. Even the CEO Kris Jones is so relaxed and puts himself at the same level as the employees. Even as an intern, I feel completely comfortable in the office environment.

Got Thoughts?

By all means share them, and start the conversation.
