In this post, I’m going to borrow an idea expressed in Coopreme’s blog about becoming an exclusive affiliate. I always had this idea rolling in my head, but it didn’t surface until Coopreme’s words solidified it.
Now I’m not about to say that I qualify for that realm but I would like to talk about becoming a different type of affiliate (one that could possibly lead to becoming a Super Affiliate), the Exclusive Affiliate. Being an exclusive affiliate means to either be a businesses only affiliate or to capture a percentage of every sale, of course the latter is the greater.
You become an exclusive affiliate by approaching a local business and saying the following:
- I will place your business online and set up a fully functional e-commerce site
- I will market your website to compete in the dog-eat-dog world of internet retailers
- In exchange, as the one and only affiliate, I will take a fair portion of all sales generated by your online store
This is a win-win situation for both you and the local business. For you, this deal…
- Offers a stable work contract with someone whom you can work with on a personal level
- Is a potentially lucrative deal in the long run
- Can give you a lot of useful work experience in various niches of internet marketing
- Possibly offer unique products in the online marketplace
On the other hand, for the business, this gives them a cheaper and more reliable way to get a website along with SEO and PPC services. Plus, they only have to pay you (aside from a base fee) on a performance basis.
I love this idea because there are so many opportunities wherever you live in the country. I’d find as many opportunities to become an exclusive affiliate whether I’m in small-town Stroudsburg or a big city like Chicago. There are a countless number of local stores that are willing to get into the whole internet e-commerce thing, but they don’t want to pay thousands of dollars up front towards a mysterious technology which they don’t understand. It is also the exclusive affiliate’s job to help educate and transition them to this new business front.
Got Thoughts?
By all means share them, and start the conversation.
