No More Unsubsidized Stafford Loans For Me

Here’s the estimated costs for attending Penn State University for this coming school year:

Penn State tuition costs

I just got my student aid report for the 2007-2008 school year at Penn State, and I joyfully found out nearly all of the above costs are covered. I calculated the numbers, and 96% of the above figure is taken care of by the scholarships and grants.

Seems like the hard work during my freshman year paid off, literally. Now I can squander all of my personal money (what’s left of it) into my website projects.

I completed my freshman year at Penn State by relying solely on non-renewable high school scholarships and a chunk of unsubsidized stafford loans. (By the way, if your student aid report is lacking the numbers and you need major help paying for your tuition, I recommend that you apply for a stafford loan.) When the school year ended in May, I thought, “Oh shit,” and nervously waited for good news of scholarships or financial aid. I really didn’t want to work a night shift at Dunkin Donuts.

I’d like to thank Edward M. Frymoyer, Grace Dreher, the loan stafford, and the people’s US Government for all their help.
