One of the biggest disappointments in 2007 was when ProjectW.org shut down. At the same time, this was a big step forward in the battle against software, music, and movie piracy. ProjectW.org was the largest warez forum on the web that was well-organized and spam-free. There were literally hundreds of thousands of ongoing threads that linked to super-fast Rapidshare downloads.
Then, after ProjectW.org disappeared abruptly, dozens of clones sprouted around the web. But it would never be the same… Those wanna-be warez boards clearly lacked the quality of membership and leadership of ProjectW.org. Plus, ProjectW.org had accumulated a massive archive of software, video games, music, and movies, which would take at least a couple of years and several thousand participating members to re-build.
After that emotionally wrenching period of withdrawal, to my pleasant surprise, I just received the following resurrection email from the creators of ProjectW:
Hello Members of ProjectW and WarezWS:
This is a letter to let you know that ProjectW.org has resurrected and is now under
a new name WarezWS.com. There have been many new comers into the new Warez World who claim that they are the successors of ProjectW.org, but WarezWS.com is the real deal, just simply come and check out our team at: http://www.warezws.com/.From the old pw: Adriana, antileet, edi67, eLMo, fusion.fake, Ismail0o, Matiya12, TommyCash, yshan
Not all of the PW team is here, but most of it, that’s why we call ourselves the real deal. The community is not as big as PW once was but it is growing by the minute, and the atmosphere is extremely friendly, we do not use bulldog mentality, but you do have to follow the rules.
