Being able to alias your PSU email address is one of the most practical features available to students on the Penn State website.
When you first enroll into Penn State University, the school generates a random ID based on your 3 initials and 4 digits (e.g. mine is dap5100). But using this as your email address is inconvenient, mostly because it’s difficult for others to remember it.
What’s easier to remember? dap5100@psu.edu or korean@psu.edu? I also aliased mine at asian@psu.edu and obviously daehee@psu.edu. You can have up to three aliases. In this case, the first two aliases were created as a test, and I’ll probably change it in the future to something that is more serious.
So here’s how you can go about aliasing your PSU email address:
- Go to www.work.psu.edu
- In the right sidebar, click on “edit your online directory information”
- Proceed to change your three alternate email ID’s
- Send a test message to yourself from a different email address
