Meezik is the 2nd place winner for the 2008 GVTA Business Plan Competition.
Of course, we are disappointed that we did not get 1st place for the $20k cash prize. But we still get $5k cash and $15k in services, which includes one free year in an incubator in Wilkes-Barre or Scranton.
If we were to win, we were planning on hiring an additional developer or two but that may have to hold off. We’ll most likely spend the $5k on equipment (if absolutely necessary) and advertising for our Facebook apps.
This is an exciting point for Meezik in any case because it represents the beginning of the next phase. This coming weekend, we’ll be discussing where we will go from this point.
The 1st place winner for the GVTA is Modeling International, a web 2.0 modeling magazine. It’s a combination of Zivity, Digg, and Flickr for amateur models. Although a little sloppy at this point, Modeling International does have potential and it is one of the coolest web technology companies coming out of the GVTA Business Plan Competition in the history of the competition. So I’m not feeling too terribly shitty about giving up 1st place to that team.

Congrats guys! 2nd place is pretty awesome. Best of luck man for the future.
Thanks Jay!
“Modeling International does have potential and it is actually a much better business idea than any other winners of the GVTA Business Plan Competition in the past years.”
Does that include Eleven Moons?
Victoria - let me rephrase that… I’m not one to judge a business idea outside of our area of expertise. Sorry about that!
No worries. I gave my business card to Ray, we should catch up when you guys get settled in your new FREE office. We know you are on to something great and would like to see if Eleven Moons can potentially take advantage of some of the solutions you are offering.
