I turned 20 today. Finally not a teen anymore. About time, right? We went to the Texas Roadhouse in State College, PA and had a good laugh from the fake Texan accents thrown around by the employees. Our waiter was from Mechanicsburg, PA (near Harrisburg) and he was acting like he moved up from the [...]

I wrote earlier this month about my dilemma with programming vs marketing. I can now share some general results since it’s nearly the end of the month.
Transforming from a web 2.0-ish website with cool features built with Django to a complete sales letter incorporating some of the previous features tripled my affiliate commissions for [...]

Being offered for the first time, the SRA 311 Risk Management course makes me excited about my major again. This is remarkably refreshing since past courses like SRA 111/211/221/231 failed to live up to my expectations. Being “guinea pig” courses can be no excuse because this course blows all of them out of the water.
Taught [...]

The next Google Online Marketing Challenge is coming up for 2009. Based on my experience in the Challenge this year, I noticed three major ways to make sure your team has a much better chance of winning.

I was just about to throw away our VCR because it was making an odd rumbling noise when playing a tape. I figured the heads (I think that’s what they’re called) had gone bad because my daughter Kayla had watched way too many Disney movies over the past few months. Then I heard some loose [...]

Is it possible to be a whiz programmer and insightful internet marketer at the same time? How many people do you notice in the industry who manage to accomplish both?
I cracked open one of my copywriting books that I used to be all into last year, and I realized I am not focusing enough on [...]

The following may sound obvious, but you’d be surprised how often you need reminders.
Watching the daughter all day is a big challenge, as I’ve discovered over the past two days. I often take my wife’s housewife role for granted. There is literally never a resting moment.
My wife is on a trip to New York [...]

This may be a trivial detail, but, for anyone interested, Facebook bugged out today and revealed its template tags. Do you recognize this syntax?

The simplicity of Django continues to amaze me. Doing a www redirect is as simple as going into your settings.py file and adding:
PREPEND_WWW = True
That’s it!
Prepending www to your domain (e.g. www.itmilk.com instead of itmilk.com) is a basic SEO factor to avoid duplicate copies of your webpages.
